Queens Park Rangers returned to Loftus Road this evening for another championship matchday, taking on Blackburn Rovers. After losing dramatically to local rivals Fulham the Rs were desperate to put on a better performance. Our Visitors tonight drew their previous encounter with Coventry city, star man Ben Brereton featuring off the bench. Last time the two sides met in W12 QPR picked up narrow win. Going into the game our guest were one point behind us in the league, thus making it an interesting affair.
Blackburn Rovers had the first attempt of the game in the fourteenth minute. Butterworth came forward from his own half, but narrowly missed his shot. Carrying on as they began QPR looked awful. Created nothing on or off the ball. Twenty minutes in and home fans are growing concerned. Albert Adomah had delivered a cross into the box which led to calls for handball, officials were having none of it. For the first time this season both home and away fans had been silent in the opening forty-five. Summarising what was seen on the pitch.
The second half got underway and the stale mate continued. Almost taking the lead in the forty-nineth minute were the visitors, as Barbet had stroked the ball onto his own post. Very unlucky to not be ahead. With time running out and no goals to separate the teams’ changes were made from both benches. Lyndon Dykes almost broke the deadlock in the seventieth minute, however Kaminski tipped away the Scotland forward’s attempt. Again, the home side pushed for the opener this evening when Chair’s free kick was horrifically missed by Jimmy Dunne. Seny Dieng was called into action in the final ten minutes as he palmed away at shot from Rothwell. Midfield magician Ilas Chair finally managed to find the net in the eighty third minute, scoring from eighteen yards out. Questionably Mark Warburton subbed off Albert Adomah after this, even though the Ghanaian was the best player on the pitch this match.
In conclusion this match was the least entertaining of all the fixtures I’ve seen this season, adding to the dire performance from the under twenty threes earlier. Albert Adomah being the only positive light.
