Williams works wonders!

Harrow Borough’s second pre-season fixture saw them back on the road. This time making the trip to the Timbers, as they took on Virginia Water. For the second year in a row. After starting last season’s success with a visit to the same ground. Losing narrowly that night.


Beginning this evenings proceedings was a kick off from the visitors. Who quickly gave away possession, handing the host the opening opportunity. Failing to make it count. Counter attacking, the borough was fast to find space at the opposite end. Winning themselves a corner. Creating their first chance of the game. However, the home side headed clear, as they made an impressive start to the match. Occupying room on deep in the final third. Ahmet Biller sent a cross goal bound for the guest. Coming to nothing, after the Virginia Water defenders blocked the advance. Getting closer. A low driven cross was put into the box, proving to test the keeper. Making a save in a crowded area. Trying again, Ahmet was back giving his teammates at outlet on the wing. Being awarded a throw for his efforts this time round. Comfortably caught by the home shot stopper. Having been guided towards him by a travelling player. Firing wide, Harrow Borough had their next shot. Hitting an effort from close range. Under no pressure from the opposition, leading to a goal kick. Edging the affair, the reds pushed for a breakthrough. Montel Brown finding space, smacking an attempt at a diving keeper. Driving deep into the final third. On trial Billy impressed spectators, as he made a darting run up the field. But he was unable to find a teammate from his forthcoming pass inside the box.


Getting the second half underway. The host had the first shot since the break, which only last five minutes. Both sides opting to remain on the field during the interval. Shooting from an awkward angle, they failed to work the keeper. Who many travelling fans did not recognise. Picking up the ball in the middle of the pitch. Billy switched the play, plucking out the fullback. Who was unable to made an intruding run into the area. Shortly followed by Harrow’s opening chance of the period. Where they forced the opposing shot stopper into a low save, at the centre of his goal. Similarly seeing the following attack end. Still searching for a first goal, Virginia Water made progress with a throw. Assertively dealt with by the borough back line. Moments before a they broke the deadlock. Tapping in past the keeper, after a cross made its way into the box, leaving room to finish from not far out. Josh Williams the scorer. Curling in a cross, delivered by Lanre Ladipo. Harrow doubled their lead. Taking Williams tally for tonight up to two. Pressing on as time ran out, James Ewington added a third. Scoring on his return. Following great work down the left-hand side. With time running out, the visitors finished the tie with a fourth. Josh Williams completing his hattrick. Lobbing the keeper to see out the game.
