Hanwell Town under 18s returned to league action on Wednesday evening. Travelling away to Vale Farm, for a league fixture against Wembley FC.
Starting off this evening’s match was a Hanwell Town kick off. Who went on to concede the first chance of the game, after a loose ball was picked up in the corner by the host. Going out for a goal kick following strong defending from Conal Cassidy. Dropping into the centre circle Sonny West picked up the ball. A backwards pass created space for Cameron Hughes to roam free on the wing, firing a cross over the bar. Coming out comfortably Olaf Normantowicz met the end of a long ball by Wembley following this. Playing it out from the back, he giving Cameron Hughes another chance to go forward. Only stopped by a smart piece of defending by the home side. A quickly taken free kick from the young Geordies opened the scoring. Jenom Nyam smacking a shot in, off the post. Quickly doubling their lead Hanwell converted from the spot. Running through on goal, they won a penalty. Cameron Hughes the scorer. Looking to further increase their margin Cameron Hughes uncovered himself space to take a shot, finding the oppositions keepers hands as he made a comfortable save. Sonny West creating the chance after clever footwork got him free from his marker. Counter attacking, Wembley had another opportunity. Breaking away from a Hanwell attack the young reds team were through. Switching the ball to the other flank before going out for a throw. Which the visitors reacted well to creating their next attempt at goal. In a difficult situation Mayor Okeowo was unable to apply a finishing touch. Shooting from distance Sonny West added a third, a low shot past the diving keeper, who was left stunned at the audacious attempt. Within a few minutes, the young Geordies saw a flurry of goals take the score up to five. Leaving Sonny and Jenom on two each. Not long after, the hattrick was completed for Hanwells attacking influence. Sonny West adding a sixth goal as we approached half time. Up the other end, it was Wembley’s turn to have a chance. Deflecting of a guest players foot the ball made its way to Olaf Normantowicz. Who made a simple save to avert danger. An injury halted play with not long left till the break. The stoppage was ended with Hanwell having one more opportunity. Jenom Nyam using his speed to fly past his defender, sending a powerful shot over the bar.
Soon after Wembley kicked off the second half, Hanwell were back in possession. Winning a free kick on the half way line. A long over the top ball allowed Ross Derham to cut in, setting up a shot. Which went out for a goal kick. Running down the wing Abdel Gumaa searched for a through ball, but Wembley’s midfield were well positioned to provide defensive reinforcements. The young Geordies saw a cross into the box come back out, eventually working their way back to their keeper. Moments before Olaf Normantowicz was tasked to run out of his area in order to clear the ball. Still searching for a seventh, Sonny West won a free kick deep in the Wembley half. Cameron Hughes hitting the ball low and into the keepers’ hands from the set piece. Beating his marker with pace Abdel Gumaa delivered in a cross. Finished by Cameron Hughes, who connected with the ball inches away from the host shot stopper. Perfectly placed Ahmed Saied controlled the ball from an opposition throw in. Calming the speed of the game down, for the visitors to build their next opportunity. Ending with a free kick just past the centre circle. Showing determination, Wembley continued to implement their play style. Controlling your tempo of the match in spells. Improving as the half went on. Forcing Olaf Normantowicz into a save from a set piece. Skilfully mastering the ball Jenom Nyam put in a cross. However, it was headed over by his teammate on the penalty spot. Wrapping the ball into the box, the young Geordies had a go at goal as the time ran out. Looking for his hat trick Cameron Hughes volleyed his effort over the bar. A lapse in concentration handed the host one back. Looping a shot over the Olaf Normantowicz. Inspired by their opening goal, Wembley played on the front foot. With double figures in sight the guest fired another shot at goal. A strong save from the keeper stopped it going in, also getting to the rebound. Playing with high intensity Ross Derham attempted a creative pass forward. Sadly, being blocked, by a red shirt in the middle of the pitch. As Cameron Hughes continued to search for a hat trick he was brought down in the box. Winning a penalty, which he shot straight at the keeper. Who lightly tapped the ball away from his goal line. Smartly working a passing pattern with his teammate, Ross Derham weaved his way into the box. Denied by an area filled with host players. Proving to be the final piece of action for the match.
