After losing to Bournemouth on Tuesday night Queens Park Rangers picked up their first loss of the season. Looking to get back in to winning ways the R’s returned home for a match against Bristol City, who had a large following behind in the school end. Making it a great atmosphere In W12! Since the international break ended the host have picked up one point, thanks to a late goal at the Car Leasing Stadium against Reading. Currently sat in seventh place in the championship with twelve points. The Robins come to West London with back-to-back draws in their last two fixtures. Shockingly our guest has failed to win any of their last fourteen games at home, thus making it more vital that they left the capital with all three points.
The R’s started the game with a few attacks early on. Shots being fired all across the goal, with sadly none hitting the net. Positive response following their previous result. Hitting the post was Lyndon Dykes from a header, QPR players working well as a unit. Chances followed for the host. Bentley denies the home side over and over again. Right before the break, and against the run of play Bristol score. Passing their way up the field our visitors take the lead. Disappointing way to finish the half.
Being behind at the break with only seconds to remain QPR supporters were shocked. Having played well the host deserved more, but the Robins were working hard throughout. Goals win you games. Opening the second half the referee awarded Gray a yellow, for a challenge that was very soft. Sam McCallum found the net for the R’s after putting the ball past the opposition keeper. Loose ball lands to the feet of the fullback, who has been fantastic since joining. Shots flying from QPR throughout the half. Austin made his way onto the pitch after being subbed on, putting him in the perfect place for an instant impact on the game. Score stays level. Dykes went forward once more and put Bristol City under pressure, inches prevented them going behind. Nakhi Wells grabbed at goal at the death for the Robins.
In conclusion Queens Park Rangers continued their poor form of results, having lost two games in a row. Back-to-back results going the oppositions way. The R’s played well but it was not meant to be. Wishing Nakhi Wells all the best for the season, and thank you for not celebrating against your former club. A true professional.
