Starting off the new year with a fixture against Walton Casuals, Harrow Borough headed to the Xcel Sports Hub. The last meeting between the two sides saw the host walk away narrow winners. Walton having gone two Infront before the visitors pulled one back. James Ewington getting Harrows goal that evening. Going into this game, the West London side have had two disheartening results. Losing by hefty margins in Somerset and throwing away points against Hendon. Our host beating fellow London based outfit Hayes in their previous encounter.
Right from kick off Walton Casual called for a penalty. Daniel Rowe the player in question being fouled. Decision waved away by officials, and rightly so. Continuing their immediate pressure the host had a shot. Josh Gilbert putting the ball in the Harrow keepers’ hands, giving him a simple save to make. Only two minutes in. However, the stags did find the net very soon. On the third minute Adam Liddle scores. Mistake from the travelling side handed him the opportunity, making it impossible to miss. Coming close again Walton almost scored a second five minutes later. Miraculously, Rowe seemed in perfect condition to break forward. As half time approached the home team were dominant. Harrow failing to create a chance.
Starting the second period better, Harrow kept Walton out until the fifty sixth minute. Good team work between Keetch and Liddle put the ball into the area. No one to finish the opportunity. Something they came to regret four minutes later, as James Ewington equalised for the guest. Fantastic work from Michael Bryan in the build-up. Trying to take the lead Harrow played a more attacking style. Leaving Jacob Adams in the Casuals net panicking, which showed in his time wasting. George Moore’s effort being the closet to increasing this afternoon’s score line. A horrific decision from the officials handed Walton a penalty on eighty-eight minutes. Foul given for the stag’s player backing in to the red’s defender, before finding the grass in the box. One of the worst calls seen in this entire league. Converted by Gilbert.
In conclusion this match was a tale of two halves. Walton Casuals did better in the first, and Harrow improved for the second. Adam Liddle showing his class once again. James Ewington grabbing the visitors goal, just like our previous trip to the Xcel.
