AFC Wimbledon Ladies were the next team to take on Queens Park Rangers Women in the league. Off the back of an unlucky draw on Sunday the Rs were looking for their first three points since Kent United. Before this fixture tonight’s guest beat Stevenage women convincingly, scoring nine goals at the county ground. Goals coming from all over the pitch. Former R’s player, and supporter Chloe Sampson will be taking on her employers.
Starting off at Hanwell Town this evening was a good clearance from our guest. Queens Park Rangers Women had an early opportunity, but did not manage to find the net in the opening period. One that was colder than players and supporters would have liked. Ellie Searle was up to her usual method of taking the ball out wide before crossing it in. Brilliant play by Wimbledon Ladies forced Lucie White into a save. The R’s keeper was incredible in the first half. QPR’s next chance came in the twenty fifth minute where they saw a shot go over the bar, disappointing after the effort to create it. Ashlee Hinks broke the deadlock tonight, shooting from range the visiting player did really well to find the net, even supporters of a QPR perspective were respectful of the finish. Getting ourselves a goal with not long to go before half proved to positive for QPR. Rocket shot inside the box finds the roof of the net, young Milly Cutler being the goal scorer.
Wimbledon found the opener but were quickly pegged back by their host. The Dons having more of possession, but not managing to find a lead. Queens Park Rangers Women fortunate to not be losing after clearing the ball of the line at the death. More work needed on positional awareness, and speed when closing down opponents. Back underway at the Powerday Stadium our visitors got their second only two minutes after the break. Chewie hitting the net with power causing troubles for the home side. Once again, not Lucie Whites fault. Grabbing her second moments later was Ashlee Hinks, giving Wimbledon a third goal. From forty yards out the effort was borderline rude. What a goal it has to be said! Within ten minutes the promising player had a hat trick. Ashlee Hinks winning player of the match on sixty minutes. QPR managed to hold firm for the remainder of the game. After a questionable challenge the home side got their second, converting from the spot.
In conclusion an embarrassing performance. Understandably there is a gap between the sides, but conceding five is never acceptable. Whoever you are playing. More needs to be done to prevent this season being a crisis. Can’t rely on wins against Kent and Stevenage to keep us up. On a more positive note, it was great to meet Queens Park Rangers sponsors this evening. Thank you to NNR for their efforts at the club.
