Friday night football saw Sheffield United visit W12. Going into the R’s final home fixture, QPR have seen play of hopes all but ruined. After poor results on the road to today’s guest as well as Huddersfield, Preston North End and Stoke City. Leading to the sacking of manager Mark Warburton. Dividing opinion amongst supporters of the West London club. When the sides last met, the blades walked away narrow winners. A single goal separating the teams at Bramall Lane earlier in the month.

Starting this evening’s affair. The home side were under pressure. Sheffield United carving out the opening opportunity, when Stevens saw his shot deflected away on thirteen minutes. Breaking the deadlock. Charlie Austin found the back of the net, on thirty-one minutes. Meeting the end of Adomahs cross from the right-hand side. Leaping header past the visiting keeper. Keeping the Rs in front. Murphy Mahoney then made a fantastic save in the QPR goal, as he prevented Gibbs White. Going forward again the visitors were through. However, Ndiaye was unable to find the target on forty minutes. The final chance of the half fell to the host. Who saw Austin’s attempt tapped away, before Amos could apply a second touch on the rebound.

Coming to the rescue. Admoah made a dramatic clearance, within a minute of the second half beginning. Once more Gibbs White was able to send a shot towards goal. Making another brilliant save. Murphy Mahoney extended himself to keep out Robinson, as we hit fifty minutes played. Equalising, Sheffield United scored by Ndiaye on fifty-four minutes. Finishing from very close range. A third outstanding save followed from the young R’s shot stopper. This time keeping out Egan’s header. Increasing the margin, the visitors scored again. Former R’s player Robinson heading the guest in front. Seventy-three minutes played. Coming close to levelling the score. Queens Park Rangers hit the bar. Eight minutes of injury time allowed the blades to add a third. Having just come on to the pitch, Hourihane took the tally up to three. Seeing out the match.

In conclusion this match showed exactly why QPR have failed to reach the play offs. An impressive start quickly undone. Leaving the club stranded in the championship for another season, as local rivals all bask in premier league glory. A devastating day for the club. One supporter will not forgive those in charge for easily.
