SUPERSTAR SHAYLA!

Queens Park Rangers Women were back in action on Wednesday evening. After a convincing victory over Hounslow Women, away from home. Hosting Ashford Town (Middlesex) at the Powerday Stadium. The visitors facing the Rs for the first time. Since their promotion into the league.

Starting this evening’s affair was a chance for the guest. Getting the game going at an impressive speed, they invaded the final third. Caught by the home keeper Shayla burgess on her six-yard box. Trying again, another Ashford attack mounted. Wayward shot going wide of the post. Shortly followed by a shot which went over the bar. Quickly counter attacking, QPR Women had their opening opportunity for the tie. Seeing a similar outcome from an awkward angle. Up the other end, Shayla Burgess was forced into a strong save. Slapping a shot out for a corner. Breaking away at brilliant pace Nicole Leys went down the right-hand side. Goal bound effort, unable to break the deadlock. A flurry of Ashford Town attempts followed. Superstar Shayla keeping the Rs in this game. Before a brilliant finish from Brogan Moore gave QPR the lead, stunning spectators, in an inspiring turnout.

Getting the second half underway. The visitors ventured forward. Finishing a shot, with a fine strike. Equalising the score line this evening. Leaving the remainder of the match an interesting mix up. Keeping the play positive, the guest got in the final third once more. Skying a shot from six yards. However, it was the host who would head in front next. Despite being played off the park all game. Nicole Leys crosses from the left-hand side coming in, landing in the corner of the back post. Causing confusion if a player inside the area had touched it. Improving as the game ran down. QPR Women became more confident. Brogan Moore bringing the ball forward, time and time again. Batting a handful of attempts into the opposition keeper’s chest. Not long later an injury halted the contest. Which proved to be the theme for the final exchanges.
