Shortly after their trip to Dorchester, Harrow Borough were back on the road. This time making a shorter trip from West London. Heading to the Meadow to play Chesham United. Our host this evening beat Truro City before this game, giving them a boost of confidence ahead of the tie. The first of back-to-back fixtures between the sides.
Harrow Borough started the fixture as the better side. George Moore combined well with his full back to advance up the field, allowing him to take on his opponent repeatedly. Beating the defender more times than not. Unable to find any attacking forces in the box. Playing this way for the first half, Chesham worked out the visitor’s game plan. Quickly marking more tightly. Preventing any more chances to create. James Ewington coming the closet to scoring. Up the other end Reds keeper Josh was put to work, stopping the host taking the lead. Even when supporters in the stands thought it would be impossible for him to do so. In what felt like a quick period, the opening forty-five was over. Chesham having created chances as well as Harrow.
At the break fans of both teams were looking for a goal. Having seen either side take chances, but fail to put them away. Definitely a missed match for opportunities. A triple substitution for the guest being their only contribution to the second period. Ahmet Billar coming on for James Taylor, subsequently making it feel like they were planning with a man down. However, Chesham came out with a bang. Big chance for the generals to take the lead through Kouassi. Failing to break the deadlock, from only six yards out. Moments later Clayton came close again. Strike finding the bar, somehow keeping the game goalless. A third save from the woodwork kept Harrow in this as Casey hit the post. As we approached full time Josh was forced into a double save. Firstly, getting out well to prevent the shot finding the net, before making a marvellous move to block the rebound. Easily man of the match.
In conclusion the game ended goalless. Chesham United were the significantly better team overall, and deserved to win. Hard result to take for the host. Harrow Borough did not look up for it. More so when Billar made his way onto the pitch, yet to win with him on the grass. Saturdays return match is now more important than ever.
