Hopeful of carrying on their fine start in the Sky Bet Championship Queens Park Rangers welcomed Coventry City to Loftus Road. The third side to visit W12 for a league fixture. In their two previous outings at the West London ground the R’s picked up two points, having played Millwall and Barnsley. Our visitors this afternoon came to the capital sitting one point above their host. Last time the two teams met it was QPR who were the winners, picking up all three points in a three-nil win. Young talents Chris Willock and Ilas Chair being on the scoresheet then. During the build-up to this game the R’s discovered they will meet Everton in the next round of the league cup.
For the opening period both sides seemed evenly matched. Waghorn looked to be the visitors main vocal point, creating a few opportunities for himself early on. Seny Dieng kept the score level. Fast reactions from the Senegal shot stopper let the host have some chances to take the lead. Moses looked lovely for the Rs, breaking away down the wings time after time. A very smart signing by Mark Warburton. Rob dickie had a pop shot which flew over the bar, this being QPR’s first attack of note. Young Morocco international Ilas Chair was the next to put pressure on the visitors. As the half carried on it stayed the way it started, each team cancelling out the other. Callum O Hare the star player for the sky blues!
A nothing half in summary. Coventry had chances from counter attacks, the Rs challenging the keeper from dead ball situations. However, our guest’s fans were very loud, maybe the best to visit yet this season. Moses looked a level above the rest in the first 45 minutes. As the second half began Waghorn made Dieng work once more, but luckily, he pushed it over the bar. Impressive work from Chris Willock pushed Rs forward. Lyndon Dykes came on for Chair, moments later finding the net thanks to a whipped ball to him. Lovely strike past the visitor’s keeper in the 68th minute. Shortly after we scored again. A bobble in the box finds barbet before hitting the net. Making a habit of prolific defenders. Lead doubled in the 76th minute. In the remaining fourteen minutes the fixture became dull. The only real entertainment for those at loftus road was the on-going conflict between Coventry fans and security, security coming out on top. With the full-time whistle blown the sky-blue army headed back to the their ‘Coventry Homes’ where they have cathedrals to spare… as we were told repeatedly this afternoon. Have a safe journey back guys!
In conclusion Second half Park Rangers were at it again. Not the best performance, but we got the points. Still unbeaten in league and cup. Following this game clubs go into a break, with international football among us very soon. Best of luck to All Rs players presenting their nations. Also, wishing supporters a wonderful time watching England as well as many others across the world.
