Spurs'ing it up!

Tottenham Hotspur under 23s hosted Blackburn Rovers under 23s on Monday evening. The game being played at the host new stadium. Giving supporters, and neutrals a chance to see future talents. Leading up to this fixture the visitors were bottom of the league. Having only picked up eleven points in fifteen games. On the other hand, the home side are third. A position the lilywhites first team are not used to. Being the second-best side based in North London.

When the first half got underway it was the host who started the better. Coming close on the nineth minute. Shot putting the Rovers keeper to work early on, in cold temperatures. Tottenham were forced into a first half sub. The young lilywhite player making his way off the field, after taking a knock from the opposition. Cheers surrounding him as he left the field. From spurs supporters and all others in the stadium. Former Queens Park Rangers star Jack Clarke opened scoring in the sixteenth minute. Driving at space the tricky winger found himself in the box. Before releasing his effort, which ended up smashing into the net. Nearing a second the host had chance after chance. Battling from either flank, and through the middle. Rovers fortunate to only be a goal down. Surviving all the way till half time. To the relief of travelling fans, who showed their loyal support this Monday evening. Credit to their club.

At the break the tide turned. Blackburn came out all guns blazing for the second half. Significantly improving from kick off, to the shock of all spectators. Leaving supporters wondering what was said inside the changing room. Pressing on from wide, the fullback cut in for a chance. Narrowly missing the target. Going forward again the visitors were edging ever closer to an equaliser. Which arrived on the sixty fifth minute, curtesy of Connor McBride. Finishing off a move which started in their own half. Well worked by the Lancashire based club. Levelling the score before a period of dull football to end the affair.

In conclusion Tottenham bottled three points, against a side buried at the bottom of the league. Having been the better team for the first half. Blackburn showing plenty of fight and determination to level the game. If not win it, which would have been deserved.
