Split loyalties!

Harrow Borough welcomed a Queens Park Rangers XI to Earlsmead Stadium on Wednesday night, following a much-improved performance against Athletic Newham. In the build-up to this fixture the R’s have faced Hampton & Richmond Borough and Manchester united u23s. Losing both games. First team Player Tod Kane also made an appearance, which surprised many QPR supporters. This match attracted a bigger crowd than normal for Harrow Borough due to the area being well known for having a large Queens Park Rangers fan base allowing the club to take an increased amount of money in from ticket sales.

The game began with a minutes applause for former Harrow Borough player, and Middlesex cup winner Spencer McCall who sadly passed away due to Ewings Sarcoma. My thoughts go out to his friends and family in this difficult time. Both teams began the fixture with a high level of intensity, looking eager to impress the large crowd at Earlsmead Stadium. Tonight’s visitors were the first to find the net following a brilliant delivered cross which was met in the box. The first of many loud cheers tonight. Future QPR first team player, and maybe international player Charley Kendall scored the second goal of the evening. A lovely strike was converted in front of a group of travelling supporters. Not long before half time QPR grab their third for the evening.

Half time came after that giving fans in the ground a chance to get food and drink on a rather warm evening in South Harrow. During the break the announcement went out informing the winner of the signed Albert Adomah shirt, creating an applause in a corner of the ground. Following the stop in play Queens Park Rangers scored again. Aaron Drewe was the next to find the net, the gap began to look steep for reds supporters. After the fourth goal of the evening not much action happened. Both teams saw out the fixture with many corners and cross field passes. A collision being the only point of interest before full time, leaving supporters with a sour taste in what was overall a great event.

In conclusion this fixture proved to be great value for money. Queens Park Rangers walked away with a comfortable win, although Harrow Borough played very well. A performance the reds can be proud of! Thank you to Albert Adomah for making the trip to his former club this evening, it was an honour to have him back where it all began. Wishing all R’s fans, a safe journey home, and hope to see you back again when QPR don’t play.
