Silent Stoke...

Sunday afternoon action came calling for Queens Park Rangers. Thanks to another ridiculous request by sky, our fixture against Stoke City was moved. Leaving the away fans with very little choice but an early start. Going into this match the Rs were in high spirits, having beaten Derby County on Monday night. Andre Greys late strike being a contender for goal of the season. Putting QPR third in the league. The Potters come to the capital on back-to-back losses. Bristol city beating them, before Blackburn rovers did.

Both sets of fans clapped in memory of Arthur when the sixth minute came around to start the game, which had not seen any chances in the opening moments. Chairs eighth minute effort was the first opportunity of the game. Delivered in by Willock, the Moroccan headed the ball at Davies. Reacting well from that passage Stoke City went up the other end. Seny Dieng keeping them out. Carrying on the pressure the Potters took the lead, Campbell getting past R’s defenders effectively. Fourteen minutes in the first chant from away fans could be heard. Quietest seen in W12 all season. Hitting the woodwork saved the host from further embarrassment thirty-eight minutes in, bringing some joy under the Sky sports curse. A company widely hated amongst QPR fans.

Losing at half time Queens Park Rangers were unlucky. Having had chances, but lacking the end product. As they have done many times before. One goal separating the sides. Making a fantastic save to deny Austin, Davies just about keeping the volley from rifling into the net. Great start four minutes since play resumed. Back at the hosts end, Dieng was forced into another save. Poor defending allowed Tymon to come through to have a go at goal. Against the run of play QPR were awarded a penalty. Barbet brought down in the box, giving the West London outfit a chance of recovery. Stepping up to the spot, Austin had his shot saved. Disappointing from the fan favourite. Setting themselves up for a second, our visitors almost scored in the seventieth minute. Shooting from distance as they grew in confidence. However, they did manage to lead to their lead. On the seventy eighth minute Vrancic made it two. Easily finding the net. Game was over as a content as soon as the celebrations began.

In conclusion Aaron Davies was the man of the match. Keeping Stoke in the game, and being the key reason for the win. Queens Park Rangers looked to lack urgency in the quietest fixture seen this season. At times, seeming to have forgotten that they were losing. Not one player was good enough this afternoon. Overall, a dead game on the pitch, and in the stands.
