Seaward squashed!

Queens Park Rangers Women travelled to London Seaward for their first match of the year. Going into the encounter at Wadham Lodge, the R’s sit eighth in the league. Having games in hand on all teams. After last Sunday’s fixture was postponed, QPR have not played since their defeat to Hashtag. Giving the squad a chance to regain fitness. Key players returning to training within that time. Our host this afternoon has picked up nineteen points so far, playing thirteen games. Last winning away to Cambridge United. Who the West Londoners visit in a week’s time.

A cagey start to this afternoon’s affair kept both sides from having early chances. The first of which coming thirteen minutes in, as Demi Edwards went forward for the R’s. Her hooked effort inside the area awakening host defenders. London Seward were awarded a penalty in the thirty third minute. To the disbelief of most of the crowd, of which there was not many. More travelling supporters than home fans. QPR fans celebrated as McClean saves Dell’s shot. Going back up the other end, captain Vicky Grieves distanced shot made the keeper work hard. Narrowly going over the bar. However, a goal came before the break. Demi Edwards opening the scoring on the forty fifth minute. Kasha Petit charged down the wing to create the chance. Sending a ball across the box, for the forward to convert. Delightful play from the West London club.

At half time QPR were ahead. Having scored right before the stop. London Seaward being penned in their own half, with very few opportunities to escape. After a period without much action, QPR were on the front foot. Cross from out wide lands to Moore’s feet. Just seeing her shot go over the bar. Coming close again on the eightieth minute, Kumaning hits wide. The visitors struggling to finish of fantastic pieces of movement.

In conclusion the visitors walked away from Wadham Lodge with a tight win. London Seaward improved as the game went on, but were unable to offer much up front. Leaving the R’s three points closer to them in the league. With many games in hand.
