After a disappointing defeat to Ipswich Town Women in the cup. QPR Women were back in action. This time making the trip to Wadham Lodge, located in Walthamstow. London Seaward their host. Who they narrowly beat in the respective fixture last season. Demi Edwards the scorer that day.

Opening opportunities for this afternoon’s affair was the R’s. Two chances came from the guest, in the inital exchanges. The host keeper able to comfortably catches both crosses. Up the other end, London Seaward saw their first chance follow. Katie Mclean coming low to retrieve the ball. But it was the visitors who ventured ahead not long later. Ellen Wardlaw attacking the end housing QPR Women flags, batting a shot into the opposition shot stopper, unable to round her with a rebound. Winning a corner for her efforts. Playing a one two, the home side scuppered into the final third. Using open areas out wide to create a cross. Blocked brilliantly by QPR defender Vicky Grieve. Continuing chances a free kick found its way into the box. Melanie Hall hitting her go at goal over the crossbar. As the teams approached half time, an injury occurred for a host player. Causing a lengthy stoppage in play. Giving managers a gap to address issues and hand out instructions. Restarting with a throw in. Launching a long free kick from distance a corner was the R’s reward. Today’s opposition keeper just about putting it past the post. Remarkably reacting, the host had a great go at goal. Katie McLean magically managing a strong save. Denying a close chance. Breaking the deadlock before the break, a quick free kick was taken by Georgie Lewin. Laying off a long ball by Lauren Jordinson who perfectly pinpointed Ellie Searle. Touching down terrifically for a cross into the box. Tapped in at the back post, by Brogan Moore.

Getting the second period underway was a perfect start for Seaward. Squeezing a shot out within seconds of kick off. Katie Mclean keeping them out, despite pressure from a on rushing forward. Attacking with pride and purpose Ellie Searle advanced into the final third. Forcing a powerful punch by the keeper, who could have conceded at the far post. If not for fortune on her side. An error at the back by her allowed the teams to enter the final parts of the game. Passing it out of her six-yard box, to the feet of Melanie Hall. Unable to make it count by losing possession. However, it was London Seaward who scored next. Levelling the score with a counter attack. Opening up area inside the box for an easy finish. Fouling and fighting the home side saw out the match. Snatching a winner in stoppage time, against the run of play. Beating the keeper in a crowded box.
