SCUMerset...

Weston Super Mare hosted Harrow Borough this afternoon. The visitors making the journey to North Somerset, to take on the league leaders. Who are yet to lose this season. Comfortably coming out of their opening fixture period.

Starting this affair was a chance for the guest. George Moore making nothing of his early opportunity, as he smashed a shot over the bar. However, it did not take long for the deadlock to break. The home side scoring from the spot. Returning player Imran Uche giving away a penalty. Skipper Dayle slotting home on six minutes. Shortly followed by a second spot kick. Jackson failing to keep control of the ball, conning the match official into awarding a penalty. Sending off Shaun Preddie on twelve minutes for being fouled. This time, it was Grubs who scored from twelve yards. Drilling low into the corner of the net. Having an attack Bryan advanced. Picking out a perfectly placed James Ewington, for a header wide of the post. Missing from close range. Up the other end, Weston Super Mare came close to a third. Narrowly missing the target. Which was quickly rectified, when they made it three. James Dodd giving the ball to Ruben Reid, playing a one two, before a finish first time ruffles the roof of the net. The host had back-to-back chances as the half came to a close. Similar method to their game plan, not working this time round. Harrow managed to squeeze themselves into the box before the break. First, James Ewington squandered the simplest of shots you’ll see. Seeing his effort got wide, without anyone around him, freely walking into the box. Continued by a Michael Bryan cross caught by the keeper.

Getting the second period underway was a Jacob Knightsbridge save. Forcefully having to dive low, catching the ball at the attackers’ feet. Making another superb stop Jacob tipped one out of the danger zone. The visitors first chance of the half came thanks to a cross. Low drilled ball into the area, unable to get a final touch. Rolling out for a comfortable clearance by the Seagulls shot stopper. Powerfully pushing his next shot over the bar, George Moore saw similar fate. Tensions rising as chances went astray. Flapping in a fourth, Grubb got another. The home side slicing apart Harrow players, giving them all the time to shoot. Back in the front foot. Weston worked their way up the field, earning a corner, an effort inches away. Slapping a shot over the bar from the proceeding set piece. Halting the play, the most made a nasty tackle. Injuring the Harrow Borough player. Leaving the Reds playing with nine men, for a short period of time. When the game got underway again it was the host who had one more. The ball failing to cross the line, despite being given, by a clueless referee. Aided by an uneven crossbar. Sixth and seven goals followed in quick succession seeing out the match.
