Score draw!

After a period away Arsenal under 23s returned to Borehamwood. Taking on West Ham this evening, the gunners looked to do better than their previous game here. Losing to Derby in an eight-goal thriller. Back in November. Going into this fixture the guest were unbeaten in seven matches, only conceding four goals in that time. Since their clash with the rams several academy talents have featured for the first team. Charlie Patino now a regular in senior training, alongside names such as Saka and Smith Rowe. Two former Hale end products.

Arsenal got the match underway with a diagonal pass from kick off. Going straight out for hammers throw. Managing to pick up the ball again, they had the first chance of the game. Ideho heading his effort over the bar. The momentum switched when play restarted. West Ham scoring in the nineth minute. Error at the back gave the guest an opportunity, Appiah Forson left face to face with Karl Hein. Converting around the keeper. Hein was called into action not long after. Making a brilliant save to deny Chester. Levelling the score, Edwards found the net. Forty minutes in the host player tapped home the ball from under the keepers’ hands. Dynamic play from the wing created the chance, forcing the mistake.

At the break it was all square. Both sides setting out their play style from early on, and sticking to it throughout. Proving to be successful for the teams. Score line a fair representation for the fixture. Pushing for a lead, the home side started the second half on the front foot. Breaking through the middle of the pitch time and time again. Almost coming of when Edwards rattled the post. West Ham picked up following this, bringing the gunners defenders into the game. Shot from just outside the box as close as they managed to get. Up the other end, Arsenal were back in the driver’s seat. Hitting the side netting through Sagoe Jr with seven minutes to go. Sadly, being the last piece of action in this affair.

In conclusion a one all draw was a fair result. Each team showed their skills going forward, and at the back. However, neither able to take the lead. Despite working tirelessly throughout. Subs benches in full used during the match.
