Remarkably rubbish refs...

This Saturday Southall hosted Westfield at Ashford Town football club. The host home stadium for the season, as work continues on their project at Warren Farm. A site previously enquired about by Sky bet championship side queens park rangers. Isthmian league match up bringing the teams together.

Starting this afternoon’s affair. Westfield kicked off. Going out for a throw, soon after play began. Shortly followed by a clash of heads. Causing a stoppage in the game. As Anthony O’ Connor was assessed for concussion. Before an opening opportunity fell the guest way. Getting forward with a long ball, backheeled, dealt with by the home sides shot stopper. Switching the play. The host had their first chance. Frankie Taylor latching on, lunging up the left-hand side, supplying a teammate. Bobbling his effort astray. Trying again Southall had another shot. Powerful attempted aimed directly at the keeper stood in the centre of his goal. Controlling proceeding passages of play. Chance after chance could have been created, if for some creativity. Plans off playing it out wide and crossing now quickly averted by the visitors’ defenders. Having seen this tactic take shape repeatedly. Always ending in disappointment. Such as a scuffed effort from six yards being squandered. Counter attacking, Westfield flung themselves into the final third. Whacking wide of the post. Contact made on ball as it went across goal. Giving a corner. Dropping a pass onto his fullbacks’ feet, Michael Bryan built up a tempo. Making his way into the area with amazing space awareness. However, the cross coming in lacked quality to create any real problems. Not long later. The visitors were in the danger zone once more. Chaotic clearance averting adversities, from a lively attack. Slapping a shot into the side netting Southall thought they had broken the deadlock. Skipping past players with smart feet, the skilful individual invented an opportunity out of nothing. Taking the lead. The host had their goal. Clanging off the crossbar from a curling attempt on target. Levelling the score, a minute into injury time, Westfield were able to equalise. Putting away a penalty from twelve yards. Into the top corner, having tripped himself up in the box to win it.

Getting the second half underway. It was the guest who unlocked their opponents first. Finding open areas to invade, attacking at speed, sending shots at goal. Going over the bar. Stunning supporters with how quickly they came out after the break. Seeing more and more pressure. Southall looked under it, Frankie Taylor taking the brunt, as winger worked their magic on his left-hand side. Creating a chance. The home side were stopped inches away from the corner flag. Being hacked down by a member of the travelling team, who was given a free kick for his foul. Breaking at impressive speeds Anthony o Connor could have increased the margin. Slotting between centre backs, the striker was through on goal. Batting the ball wide with a wonky shot. Showing drive, Southall sent an effort over the bar. Continuing his excellent outlet this afternoon. Michael Bryan excelled in the final third as the match approached its end. Nudging his team nearer, unfortunately coming to nothing. With not long left Westfield seem to wake up more and more. Managing to dominate the last proceedings, assisted by the referees.
