Pretty poor Pitshanger!

My first neutral game in a while saw me make the trip to Berkley fields, home of North Greenford United. For this evening’s fixture tenants Pitshanger Dynamo took on FC Soma in the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division. Free Entry and a 7:45pm kick off time gave fans of other London clubs an opportunity to watch live step 11 football on a Wednesday night. Perfect for ground hoppers such as myself.

In the first period of the fixture FC Soma looked the significantly better side. Taking into to consideration the standard in which the sides play at the quality produced by tonight’s visitors was impressive, showing signs of maybe being able to compete at a higher level in the future. Pitshanger looked in trouble. However, it was the host that took the lead in this game, a lovely piece of team work saw their counter attack put them in the final third. After driving forward the Dynamos player put the ball out wide to Reece Charles Jones who calmly slotted it into the far corner leaving the keeper no chance. Oranges Ahead against the run of play.

At the midway point Pitshanger Dynamo were leading this evening’s match, something that would surprise the very minimal crowd at their home ground. Under 10 spectators to be exact. FC Soma looked lively and wanting to take the game into their own hands but were denied by the woodwork on a few occasions. As the second half began and play was underway again more of the same continued for both sides, with the home side looking worrying in concerning in all areas. Even leading to the ball spending the opening period in their half without any risk of putting pressure on their visitors. The opposition centre half was seen strolling around the middle of the pitch. As a result of their efforts FC Soma were rewarded with a goal. They managed to find a way back into this fixture with a headed effort thanks to a weighted cross that landed directly in front of the players head perfectly.

In conclusion it was a less eventful second half with the only action of the period coming from a goal line scramble that saw the keeper grasping the ball after it bounded off the post. Thank you to North Greenford United for their hospitality, and wish you all the best for the season. It was nice to be back at Berkley fields.
