Nervous Bush backline!

This Saturday Shepherds Bush made the trip to Wembley football club. Taking on tenants Cricklewood wanderers. For a Middlesex premier league match up. In front of an impressive crowd for this level, including arguably the best supporters in London. Backing today’s host.

Starting this afternoon’s affair was an evenly contested beginning. Shepherd’s Bush applying initial pressure, picking up a throw in. Before a second shortly continued play. On the opposite side. Creating the first chance. A scuffed shot slowly crept towards the visitor’s keeper. Having a go at goal, an attempt flew over by Cricklewood within a moment. Faint touch from a corner converts into the side netting. Doubling up on the attacker. Shepherds bush saw out danger deep in their final third. Followed by a fine pass by the host, breaking defensive lines. Unable to find a way through. Cricklewood crumbled their movement. Managing to pass out of play, as the player chased down. Carrying possession up the field. The home side Centre half helped his side push up the pitch, starting a spell of short passes. Ended with an underwhelming effort. Teasing their opponents, the guest opened up space. Intercepted. Long shot leathered towards goal. Forcing a save, the home shot stopper slung out of his area. Curling an attempt. A fantastic stop slapped past the post. Making a mistake at the back. Shepherd’s Bush almost handed the host a goal. Kept out by a strong block, from the defender. Surrounded by the sound of the Cricklewood ultras. Another error from the travelling team’s keeper caused problems. Picking out an advancing player, inches away. Failing to find the target from three yards. Halting the half. A high foot turned challenge took down the visitor. Sending in a cross, Cricklewood came close to equalising. On the stroke of half time. Horrible hit by the attacker.

Getting the second half underway. The host had the first chance. Coming forward with fine padding patterns, picking out the players in red shirts. One of which putting his shot two inches to his right. An attempt over the bar the next opportunity. Lifting the ball away. The Cricklewood left back bombed into the box. Beating the on runner, to round off the go at goal. scooping a shot, the home side created a save for the opposition. Making contact with the centre half on the way. From the edge of the area, the host had a free kick. Clever positioning almost paid off with a scorpion kick turned header. In spectacular style. A shot came from nowhere for the home side, excellent decision making by the keeper keeping it out. A faint touch took the play behind the visitor’s goal. Under pressure from the host. Confusion occurred when the Cricklewood corner taker was giving advice, seeming to destroy his confidence. Eventually putting in an acceptable effort. Scoring their second. Shepherd’s Bush hit home with an easy attempt at goal. Past the keeper, who was left in no man’s land. Against the run of play. Side stepping. Cricklewood had the next chance. High and wide over the bar. A pinpoint throw took the guest up the pitch. Two touches in quick succession, seconds away from sending it into his own net, the defender darted danger over. Hand balling Shepherd’s Bush handed their host a free kick. From which they scored, following a long ball into the box. Awarding a penalty instantly into four minutes added time. Cricklewood levelled the score against all odds. Sending the keeper, the opposite way, after calls for players to step outside the box by the official. Unbelievable scenes unfolded deep into injury time. Almost a repeat of their first, the host were ever so close from finishing their third. Inside a crowded box. They just couldn’t beat the bobble.
