Thanks to the demands of Sky TV Queens Park Rangers hosted Luton Town this Friday evening. The visitors last win on the road was against Millwall, on their previous visit to the capital. Scoring two goals that afternoon. Since the visit to the den the Hatters have seen mixed form. QPR sat two points above their opponents going into the match, but five spots separate the sides.
Luton began the match with a very good chance. Three minutes in Adebayo steals the ball from Dunne, but Seny Dieng comes to the rescues. Having just recovered from coronavirus. Going up the other end two minutes later Chair has the R’s first shot at goal. Very scrappy affair in the early stages, with both teams attacking at rampant pace. Counter attacking from a Luton corner QPR broke the deadlock, Chair picks out Willock with a long ball to the other side. Lobbing the keeper to find the net. Ten minutes it’s all it took to silence the 2400 Haters fans in the away end. Nearly getting a second sixteen minutes in was the Scottish king, Lee Wallace. Returning from a lengthy injury. Shot just wide of the goal. Back at the host goal Harry Cornick was denied in the seventeenth minute. Calming down from here both teams had a quieter period till half time.
Getting us underway in the second half, as they did in the first was Luton Town. Two chances within the opening five minutes. Initially a header was cleared off the line, before Naismith found the side netting. However, it was the host that got the next goal. Charlie Austin headed home a Willock cross in the fifty fifth minute. Good teamwork by the QPR midfielders. It took until the eighty third minute of the game for the next piece of action to come. Luton Town continued to press for a way back into the fixture, but were denied time and time again. Seny Dieng on fine form between the sticks.
In conclusion Queens Park Rangers broke their poor record of not winning live on sky. Doing so in a convincing manner, against a lacking Luton side. One that failed to get shots on target.
