Kelman at it again!

Returning to action this afternoon was Queens Park Rangers Under 23s. After back-to-back wins against Bristol City and Ipswich Town, the R’s welcomed Blackburn Rovers to West London. At their rented home of Grosvenor vale. In their last outing QPR scored four goals, Charlie Kelman bagging three of those. For this premier league cup fixture the home side featured a strong line up. Key names such as Charlie Owens, Joe Gubbins and Joe Walsh could be seen on the team sheet.

A dull opening period was on show for spectators this afternoon when play got underway. The first real chance of the game came in the nineteenth minute as a cross from Owens lands in Ben Wells path. Headed wide by the R’s midfielder. On trial Pedder got the first shot on target today. Shooting from the edge of the box, but saved by Eastham in the Rovers net. With thirty-two minutes gone Blackburn hit the bar. Talented forward McBride had his effort come back off the goal, have to feel for the player. What an individual he looks to be. On the stroke of half time QPR had the ball in the net. Woollard Innocent beat the keeper, but it was ruled off due to handball.

Level at the break both sides had chances. Neither able to apply the finishing touch. Action seems to be coming in spells, on a boring afternoon at the Ruislip club’s ground. The game was still all square in the sixty-eight minutes when Pedder had a second chance. Horrifically missing his shot, from only six yards out. Way over the bar. Embarrassing. However, Kelman managed to break the deadlock. Seventy-two minutes in the attacking player dragged the Lancashire team’s keeper way out of his goal. Sliding the ball low and into the corner. Incredible run from the Gillingham reject. Getting forward again in the eighty third minute he had an audacious attempt. Unfortunately, not converting this time.

In conclusion it was a narrow game at the vale. A ground I’m personally not fond of, and eager for us to move out of. Wouldn’t want to be at disgusting clubs such as this. Charlie Kelman was the stand out player for the R’s this afternoon, as he continued his fine goal scoring form. Well done to the player for his efforts!
