Katie Akerman, she's one of our own.

As April came to an end. Queens Park Rangers Women headed to their final away trip of the season. Taking on Stevenage Women, at the Hertfordshire FA County ground. The match playing a role in the boro’s survival hopes. With the side sat two points from safety, this was a must win.

The first chance of the afternoon fell to the host. On three minutes, Jodie Nadine forced Katie McClean into a low save. Soon before the player broke the deadlock. Finding the back of the net three minutes later. Replying quickly QPR levelled the score on eight minutes. A volley from the edge of the box by Brogan Moore. Having been assisted by Merle, playing at right wing back. As the end-to-end affair continued Stevenage had another opportunity. Amy Makerwell getting past the defender, allowing her to have a shot. Winning a corner in the process. Heading over the bar from the proceeding play. Getting through again, the home side had a go at goal. This time Dionne Manning firing into Katies hands.

When play resumed Stevenage were first to instigate action. Kate French finding herself in the visitor’s half, earning a free kick. Which saw a R’s player booked on forty-nine minutes. Starting a negative spell for the guest. Who saw their keeper red carded eight minutes on. Handing the host a penalty, taking them ahead by two goals to one. Holly Greenwood the scorer. Lucie White making her way onto the pitch for the sacrificed Merle Redhead Ling. The next QPR chance came on seventy minutes. Shooting wide, Brogan Moore came close to equalising. But it was Katie Akerman who added the London sides second. Scoring a free kick two minutes into injury time. Smacking it in from distance.

In conclusion. Stevenage stunned spectators to take the lead, before quickly being pegged back by QPR. A great goal at either end. Going in front once more, the visitors handed their opponents a lead. Before grabbing a late point from a poor performance. Continuing our underwhelming run over the last two matches.
