James Ewington - The new Jamie Vardy!

Harrow Boroughs first away game of the league season saw the Reds take a trip to Hampshire to face Hartley Witney at the Memorial ground. Last time out this fixture saw one all draw between the sides. Ahead of these evenings match the visitors were left without key players such as Dan Lincoln, Ben tricker and Dernell Wynter.

As soon as the action kicked off the borough found themselves an opening goal. Cross coming in from defender Biller, before prolific forward James Ewington finished off the movement of play. A wonderful start for the new man up front. Both players caried on in this fine form throughout the initial period, which was shocking considering how disastrous Biller was against Yate Town. Not a fan of him being at the club. Soon after Ewington grabbed his second goal against the host this season, this time being a rebounded effort after Frank Kieta’s first attack on the keeper. Two for Ew! Going into the break it looked comfortable for Harrow Borough, Hartley witney seeming like a walk over to face. Not one chance on red’s keeper Damain Las. Some would say this was a training session for centre back duo Shaun Preddie and James Mansfield.

Heading into the second period the Harrow players looked eager to extend their lead. However, this did not play out as a result of club legend David Taylor having to go to hospital, after a tragic tackle from the Hartley Witney player. Something they’ve been doing since the start. Following this the Middlesex side were awarded a penalty, which James converted for his third of the evening. A hat trick in the bag. Marc Charles Smith was fouled inside the box thus giving the referee no choice but to point to the point, even though he seemed hesitant to give the visiting team anything all game. This led to the second serious injury of the evening for Harrow with Marc immediately being subbed off after that. Drawing towards the end of the tie the host were also given a spot kit, one that would be considered more controversial. Was this a hand out to make the score seem kinder? Argent then went on to sky his penalty giving Harrow a clean sheet. Never in doubt.

In conclusion Hartley Witney were beaten by the well and truly better side. From the very start of the game, it was only going one way, and the three points will be returning to South Harrow. More importantly than the result I’d like to wish David Taylor all the best with his recovery. That win is for you!
