Hillingdon U18s 0-10 Hanwell U18s

This evening the Middlesex Stadium hosted an East Division fixture between Hillingdon Borough and Hanwell Town under 18s.


Kicking off the match was the young Geordies. Who handed possession over to their host. However, managed to regain the ball, to have the opening chance of the game. When a switched cross won them a throw in. Leading to a free kick. Which came back out for a second shot at goal. Applying pressure Ross Derham earned a corner for his team. Putting a cross in Cameron Hughes’ pass was ruled for offside soon after. Firing over the bar Hillingdon had their first opportunity in the tie. Having made their way into the box, from a counter attack. Giving away a penalty Hanwell came close to putting Hillingdon in the lead. However, Olaf Normantowicz dived strongly to wrap the attempt around the post. Breaking the deadlock, the visitors scored with a header. Cross into the area, from just inside the box. Josiah Thompson with the assist. The young Geordies had the ball in the net a second time, but the officials waved it away. Narrowly missing the target. Jenom Nyam rounded the keeper, after latching onto a driven Sonny West pass. Closing down an attacking player Ross Derham won back the ball. Placing a wide pass to Josiah Thompson, who drove forward. Under pressure from blue shirts surrounding him. Making a fantastic triple save Hillingdon kept the score at a one goal margin. Seeing Sonny West’s shot dealt with, before two more attempts were cleared. Looking to increase the lead Hanwell scored from the proceeding corner. Finding the target Cameron Hughes placed the set piece into the side netting. Breaking away on the wing Kai Zini was brought down. Soon followed by Jenom Nyam, as he skipped past the defender. Having his second shot, Cameron Hughes forced the host keeper to drop the ball. Allowing another attempt by the guest. Play continued with a chance for Hillingdon, having withstood vast pressure. They sent a shot goal bound. But Olaf Normantowicz was able to pad it away. Reacting well, the home side had another attempt within a few minutes. Driving a pass into the Hanwell back line, a cross goal shot going just wide of the post. Battling in the box Jenom Nyam added a third. Smacking his shot past a frozen keeper. Letting fly from a long-distance free kick proved to be the last chance of the first half.


When play resumed. Hanwell were fast to increase the margin. Mayor Okoewo converting from close range, following Josiah Thompsons initial effort being dropped by the keeper. After a cross met Cameron Hughes out wide setting up the chance. Making an impressive interception, Olaf Normantowicz caught a free Hillingdon header. Allowing his side to counter attack themselves. Starting an outbreak of goals. Positive play from Jenom Nyam and Mayor Okeowo created the next chance. Seeing their passage end with a shot over the bar. Connecting well shortly after, the young Geordies added another goal. Josiah Thompson joining the attacking movement this time around. Taking the score line up to a five-goal difference. As the game came to its conclusion Hillingdon Borough were reduced to ten players. Leaving the host with a harder challenge to find a way back into this fixture. Still searching for more, Hanwell had the subsequent opportunity. Testing the home keeper from outside the box. Completing his hat-trick this evening Jenom Nyam put a sixth goal into the net. Tapping home from a very close range. Making contact with the ball on the goal line. Cameron Hughes the provider. Who went on to get his second not long later, sliding the ball under the keeper. Three more goals followed before full time, including a spectacular effort from Sonny West who curled into the top corner.
