Harrow hit for 5!

On Wednesday night Earlsmead Stadium welcomed Harrow Borough and Potters Bar U18s. The ground being used for the County cup fixture between the sides. Starting later than advertised, after confusion on kick off. After an initial postponement from last week happened due to the weather.

Starting this evening’s affair. Potters bar passed around the back. Before having the first shot. Skied over the bar. Almost giving away a goal, the keeper guided the ball across his line. Kept out by the travelling teams centre back. Shortly followed for a low driven go at goal up the other end. Questions if the guest had scored, when they slotted an attempt in off the post. Waved away by the officials. Being booted long. Making a move out wide, the visitors worked in a cross. Caught by the keeper. On the second attempt. Opening their account for tonight. Harrow borough had a shot, slipping past the post. Trying again an effort forced the host keeper into a diving save. Against all the odds, the home side could have scored. Simply sending a cross in. Coming out for a goal kick. A pinpoint over the top pass put the guest in on goal. Blocked by the borough defender, who sent it backwards. Two more touches before an awful effort ending up above the crossbar. Following a domination of play, potters bar had the best of the passage. Popping an effort into the arms of the host keeper. Making a marvellous pass. The guest got into the final third. Floppy pass put in, played away by defenders. Not long later a low go at goal went astray. Battling brilliantly. Borough bombed into the box. Sliding challenge taking the ball away, awarding a corner to the host. Within a minute. A massively over hit attempt ended up out of the ground for the host. Counter attacking quickly. Potters bar picked out space. Soaring forward, scoring the first goal. Curling it into the bottom corner. Somehow squandering a shot. The travelling team put a shot past the post. Seeing the period out. The visitors passed around the back.

Getting the second half underway. Potters bar began as they finished. Having the first chance. Shortly followed by a second, stopped by an offside call from the official. Smacking an attempt from outside the box. Potters bar batted a powerful attempt at the keepers’ arms. Wrongly timing a turn, the guest gifted the home side a run down the wing. Ending after recovery from the right back. Looking for another goal, the guest could have scored. Scuppering a free attempt inside the area. A superb save kept the visitors out. Keeper getting low, letting the ball bounce off his feet. Before a counter attacked opened up space in the final third. Stopped by a last man, managing to get his opposite number off the ball. Sending a shot wide. Potters’ bars wide man miss hit an effort. Reacting remarkably, harrow had a chance. Cutting in from outside. Blocked again. Taking the perfect touch from a goal kick. The visitors got forward. Finding space with speed, saved by the host shot stopper. Despite getting a hand to it. The harrow keeper couldn’t stop the second goal. Quick run-down the wing, against an exhausted host. Tapping in a third. Potters bar put a through ball to the final third. Keeper coming out, couldn’t get a touch. Clanging the crossbar. The home side should have scored, if not for a poor decision by the player. Initially blocking the first effort, the harrow keeper failed to get the second. Increasing the total to four. Followed by a fifth in quick succession. Scoring a low shot, past a frozen shot stopper. Surprising supporters. Harrow had a go at goal. Splendid save sending it around the post.
