Hanwell Town U18s 2-0 CB Hounslow U18s

Tuesday night saw Hanwell Town under 18s welcome CB Hounslow to the Powerday Stadium for an East division fixture.

This match got underway with a kick off from the visitors, but Hanwell were quick to regain possession, earning an early throw in. The possession was worked backwards to their centre halves allowing them to build up play from the back, where they found Romi Roomi on the wing. Setting up an over-the-top ball into the box. Switching the play Halim Bangura found a teammate in the channels, although he was only able to put the ball out for a goal kick, permitting CB Hounslow to counter. However, they were stopped after assertive defending. The first chance of the game fell to the young Geordies. When a long ball was sent towards Sonny West he didn’t manage to get a touch as the visiting keeper reached the pass quicker. Moments before a powerful shot from close range rebounded off a defender, giving the home side a corner. Picking up on a loose ball Halim Bangura carried play up the field for his team where he was tackled by an opposition player after a bobble on the way to controlling the tempo of the tie. A pinpoint pass landed to the feet of Sonny West, letting him turn to his left before playing a ball down the flank. CB Hounslow were able to block this following two players making a movement to shut down the space which was open ahead. On the ball again, Romi Roomi charged down the wing. Where he was closed down, forcing a short pass to a teammate. Eventually handing over possession. Hanwells next opportunity came when Abedelrazic Gumaa won back the ball in midfield, picking out a pass to Cameron Hughes. Setting up a lay off for a shot which went over the bar. Capitalising on a creative pass from Sonny West, Endrit Krasniqi put a cross into the box. No one was able to tap it in from inside the box. CB Hounslow reacted well to a mistake from a Hanwell throw in. Breaking away at speed, releasing the ball freely to their wide player. Who put a cross over the bar and out for a goal kick. A low cross from Cameron Hughes was met in the box by Jenom Nyam. Firing into the keepers’ hands placed in the centre of his goal. Searching for an opener, Kai Zini curled a whipped effort into the keepers’ hands soon after. Coming close to breaking the deadlock, Hanwell saw a shot tapped just round the post. As we approached half time the host were almost handed a goal. High pressing, they saw the travelling keeper scuff a clearance. Latching on inside the box the young Geordies narrowly missed the target.

When play resumed the home team found themselves shooting towards the Ray Duffy stand. The first chance of period came soon after kick off, as an inviting through ball saw the young Geordies just outside the box. Going out for a throw in. Which CB Hounslow regained possession from. A free kick into the box was headed round the far post. Inches away from opening scoring this evening. Following a high intensity start from the host, Josiah Thompson was next to have a shot. From an awkward angle, he forced the keeper into a save. Getting low to prevent danger for his team in a crowded area. Looping a ball over the defender, Hanwell found space out wide. Allowing a cross onto the six-yard line. Initially, a header missed, nevertheless a second attempt was finished by Halim Bangura. Looking to double their lead, the young Geordies tried a pass down the touch line. Which came back out to the edge of the box, before being curled into the back of the net. Following a deflection tipping the ball past the keeper. Romi Roomi assisting Halim Bangura for his second of the match. In the hunt for a third, Josiah Thompson found space between two defenders. Firing a shot into the keeper’s chest. A diagonal pass from Kai Zini landed in front of Jenom Nyam. Putting in a cross, that won them a corner. Following a touch from a CB Hounslow defender. The visitors next opportunity saw the ball run freely through to Olaf Normantowicz. For a comfortable transition from defence to attack. Working tirelessly, Kai Zini slipped a pass through the guest box, just going out for a goal kick. Showing great determination Sasha Zadoroznij looked to be an inspired sub by the Geordies. Stretching at full reach on a handful of occasions to keep the ball in play. Helping his team advance up the pitch. Battling brilliantly Kai Zini placed a pass high in the guest half, attacking his opponents with speed and power. Sending a perfect cross into the danger zone. A faint touch from a visiting player keeping it off the line, as they looked for a way back into the fixture. A brief stop in play let CB Hounslow get a moments rest, after a cramp halted play. However, it was Hanwell who had the proceeding chance. Airbbg Yakinya seeing his delivery tapped onto the bar. With the game coming to a close Sonny West tried a spectacular attempt. Similar to his goal, when the Geordies visited Bedfont Sports.
