Corinthians Casuals were Hanwell Town’s third pre-season opponents. Making the trip to West London, for a fixture at Rectory Park. Kicking off at 4pm. In front of an impressive crowd, mixed evenly with supporters of both teams.
Starting this afternoon’s content. The casuals had an early goal. Picking up on the onrushing Geordies keeper, creating an opportunity to break the deadlock. Before a quick counter attack launched Hanwell up the other end. Testing the show stopper for the first time, in what looked like a feisty affair. Followed by end-to-end football. Providing entertainment for the on lookers. Challenging both sides ahead of a new campaign. Firing from distance, the Geordies sent an effort goal bound. Forcing a low save from the keeper. Levelling the score, the Powerday-based club capitalised on a mix up at the back. Putting a player through freely. Slotting into the back of the net, past a grounded final player. Swirling a cross. Harry Rush picked up at diving teammate, in close range of the back post. Failing to increase the margin. Putting the ball in the net. Hanwell Town thought they had the lead, but were disappointed when the goal was waved away. Offside being the reason given. Still searching, a powerful shot headed for the top corner. Narrowly missing the target. Delivering a corner, Corinthian Casuals saw out the first half. Going through the box. Finding no one on the other side of the pitch. Breaking the evenly matched affair. Connor Wilks gave Hanwell a lead. Heading home from a corner, to the cheer of supporters.
Getting the second period underway was an injury. Imposing a substitution, due to the individual not being able to continue. Who was met with positive comments on his way around the pitch. Coming from a Hanwell Town supporter. Resuming play, the Geordies were on the front football. Having the opening opportunity of the half. Working the keeper for the London based club. Shortly followed by the match being halted. Following a Geordie player going down injured, whilst Corinthian casuals loomed on the attack. Searching for a third, a row of shots was fired. Hanwell Town maximising their opportunity deep in the final third. Ending with the ball batting off the keeper, who was visibly relieved not to concede. Seeing the match end with a hopeless effort.
