Going down to Gosport!

A week on from their last-minute loss to Yate, Harrow Borough were back in action. This time making the journey to Gosport Borough. Who they beat earlier on in the season. Winning one nil at Earlsmead that evening. Going into this game, the host are seventh in the table. Having picked up forty-three points from twenty-seven games. Including a loss to Hayes, who Harrow will face off against soon

Harrow Borough got the game underway by giving away the ball easily. Going on to have the first chance on the tenth minute, the visitors put their shot just past the post. Coming close again Harrow went forward two minutes later. Anthony O Connor missing from close range. Which they went on to regret. The home side broke through soon after, as Ryan Pennery tapped in from inside the six-yard box. Eighteen minutes in. capitalising on Brad Tarbuck’s corner which hit the post. Looking sharp Brad Tarbuck followed up with two more chances. But the score line stayed the same. Josh Strizovic coming to the rescue, as he has done many times this season. Next to come close was Dan wooden. Seeing his header drag wide, on the forty first minute. The final piece of action before half time.

At the break Gosport were ahead. All be it by a narrow margin. Harrow Borough created chances, but failed to make them count. Their opponents finding the net with their efforts. When play resumed it wasn’t long till Gosport scored. Doubling their lead. Once more Tarbuck went forward, this time setting up Wooden. Finishing the chance by slotting it away. Harrow now having to come back from two goals down, with forty-eight minutes gone. Things went from bad to worse. Mason Walsh sent the ball goal bound, before Wooden got his second. Two goals in three minutes. Three nil to the host. Hunting for more Gosport carried on their charge. Winning a penalty on the sixty sixth minute, Josh Strizovic saving Wooden’s shot. Denying him a second half hattrick. Ending up making a double save after the ball came out. Harrow Borough managed to pull one back. Dembele getting the visitors goal on eighty-five minutes, tapping in from close range. Nothing by a cancellation on a poor afternoon.

In conclusion it was a disappointing afternoon in Gosport. The home side took their chances, ending up with all three points. Harrow failing to get going. Dembele’s goal the only joy. Talk of play offs seeming to have died amongst travelling fans, who settle with the FA Cup run as this season highlight.
