Goalless game...

This Sunday Queens Park Rangers women hosted Cambridge United Women at the Powerday stadium. Their first outing at their home ground since October. The teams meeting in a division one south east encounter, after the r’s visit on the return leg ended in a one all draw. Goal scored by Emilia Nygaard parsons that day.

Starting this afternoon’s affair. The host had the opening opportunity. Advancing into the area, shortly after kick off. Blocked by the visitor’s backline who were crowding on the six-yard box. Having back-to-back chances, Cambridge United came forward. Crossing into the final third they found their movement wasted. As the ball was cleared out. Before a powerful effort ended up on the cross bar, rebounding to no success. Keeping the pressure up. The travelling team sent tapped a free kick into Katie McLeans arms. Comfortable catch for the well experienced R’s keeper. Curling an attempt, the visitors ventured again. This time seeing their attempt hit the roof of the net. A trend which followed for their next few chances. Charging forward the guest attacker caused a collision. Injuring herself, whilst Katie McClean secured the ball.

Getting the second half underway. QPR women came back out better than they ended. Once more getting the first chance of the period, when they plucked a corner, having piled into the box. The delivery darting straight into the side netting. Forcing a save. QPR found their way into the final third. Heading on target. Tapped around the visiting keeper, who remained calm throughout the fixture. Sending in another delivery. Laura Hennessey hoped her corner would be successful. Landing to Lauren Jordinson, testing the shot stopper. Saved by arms elevated above her head. Driving in a low cross, Alice Curr bombed down the right wing. Whacked away by a Cambridge united defender. Up the other end, Katie McLean made a strong save. Slipping away an opportunity around the post. Not long later. It was QPR women who had the best go at goal this game. Grace Stanley sliding between defenders to chase a pass. Picked up by the keeper before any contact could be made. With the final whistle seconds away, there was a slip in the home sides box. When Cambridge came crying for a penalty. Waved away by the match day officials. Ending the tie without a goal to record.
