Goal fest!

Southern league action returned this Monday night as Beaconsfield Town hosted Walton Casuals at Holloway Park. The host return home for the first time since September fourth, having played a run of games on the road. Giving them time to renovate their stadium. Losing their last game seven one at the Taunton Town, they looked for a better performance this evening. Having drawn with Swindon Supermarine on Saturday Walton Casuals could do with the points too. Before this match Josh Andrews was released from the visitor’s squad, raising questions about how they will fair. A great option for any club. Stuart Pearce being the guest of honour today.

Two minutes in and Walton Casuals had the lead. Great pass down the channel from the fullback, handing their skipper a chance to break the deadlock. Hit from distance. Beaconsfield let in another in fifth minute as Adam Little rounds the keeper. Minas has the host first attempt at goal, but Jacob Adams made a comfortable save. The guest went up the other end following this to score once more. Adam Liddle on the scoresheet for the second time, a strikers finish too. Beaconsfield managed to pull one back in the thirty second minute thanks to a fantastic goal from Donnelly. Lobbing the young stag’s keeper after a creative run in from wide. Former Harrow defender Babs Jarra was subbed off before the break.

As soon as the second period began the host pulled another goal back, to cut down the difference to just one. Olly McCoy the scorer, ending off a good passage of play for the reds. Effective throw in allowed them to head the ball into his patch. Rattling the post in the fifty seventh minute was as close as the home side got to equalising. However, this game was not over there. Walton Casuals grabbed one more in injury time. Late counter attack left Keetch a perfect opportunity to confirm the points.

In conclusion it was a goal fest at Holloway Park this evening. A perfect game for the neutral, and groundhoppers alike. Despite the weather the attendance was impressive. Something other clubs in the league need to take note of… not naming any names. Hopefully be back here soon for another game, maybe including one of my clubs that also play in this division.
