Gifted goals in the cold!

After two postponements already. QPR Women headed away to Penn & Tyler green women. A combined counties midweek women’s cup fixture bringing the teams together, in the quarter final stage of the competition. One that seems almost secretive. Due to a severe lack of information available regarding stages and fixtures.

Starting this evening’s affair. The host had the opening opportunity in the initial exchanges. Simple shot, straight into Mya Francis Powell hands. A perfectly placed through ball by Melanie Hall headed into Ellie Searles space. Running into the area, attacking the fullback, who batted the ball away. Before it landed at Melanie Hall again. Cleared from her feet preventing a shot. Shortly followed by another guest chance. Taking the lead. The home side scored at the near post from a set piece. Shocking supporters. Sending in a cross whilst slipping Penn & Tyler scuppered a go at goal. Up the other end, the Rs had equalised. A bizarre goal getting them level. Ellen Wardlaw letting fly from the touch line deep in the final third. Over the keeper and rolling into the net. Driving a low effort, Qpr women whacked into the shot stoppers palms. Saved after an initial spill. Cross goal shot slotted wide by Kasha Petit came not long later. A lofted opportunity was afforded to the visitors. Headed over. unbelievably Qpr women had the lead. Scoring again in special circumstances. As the keeper padded the ball, into her own net, for a second time. A cross came into the area for the guest. Ellie Searle on the end of it, converting from close range. Against a depleted opposition. Still stunned at their misfortune.

Getting the second half underway. The host had the first chance. The right back running through, getting ever so close, testing the keeper. Punched away by the travelling shot stopper. Before the Rs struggled to create a chance. Fumbling in the final third. Continuing the contest, the home sides backline remained resilient. Dealing with their oppositions advances impressively. Back and forth football saw out the tie as time slowly ran out, in less than desirable conditions, chilly situation for spectators. Positioned promptly looking at the pitch on a hill. An injury halting play occurred, preventing a corner taking place. Delaying the already late game. Putting the ball into the net despite the crowded final third. QPR Women added a fourth to their tally. However, it was ruled off by the official. For reasons unknown to supporters. As of writing. Bringing the match to a miserable end action completely died out. The guest getting half chances, unable to find an end product. Progression to the next stage seeming to already be confirmed. Chesham united rumoured to be waiting for the Rs to make another trip to the meadow.
