Game of two halves!

This evening Harrow Borough faced Corinthian Casuals in the London senior cup. Taking place at their UBG UK stadium, the Isthmian league side saw their last fixture postponed. Just like their visitors. Making this a more interesting affair.

Kicking of this match was an early chance for host. Breaking away right from the start, giving Harrow’s players a wake-up call. Borough standing firm with their first piece of defending. Passing it well, they made space further up the pitch. Dembele’s effort coming close in the early exchanges. Shortly followed by efforts from George Moore and Dernell Wynter. Casuals back line really being put to the test. On the odd occasion, Corinthians had a chance. But failed to make anything of it. Leaving returning Dagenham loanee Josh with not much to do. Going forward again Harrow continued to try and break the deadlock. Sadly, still being held out by their opposition. Despite heavy determination.

At half time it was a complete masterclass from the Earlsmead outfit. Harrow were unlucky to not be ahead, and by a comfortable margin. Plenty of simple chances missed. Players working fabulously as a unit. However, the stop in play turned the tide. Corinthians looked much better from the start of the second period. Big chance landing in the path of Nathaniel Pinney, but he could not get it into the net. Moments later Pinney had a second opportunity. Excellent defending from the new reds’ fullback keeping him out. Getting out their half in the sixty seventh minute, Frank Kieta heads over the bar from six yards. The best chance the guest had since play resumed. A nervy final five minutes soon came. Harrow pushed on for a goal, as Casuals parked the bus. Repeated patterns could be seen. Aided by the referee, the match ended a draw. Penalties being used to decide an outcome. The shootout came to a conclusion after Harrow scored all five, and Josh kept Corinthians out on one attempt. Heavy abuse coming his way throughout.

In conclusion this match defined the phrase ‘a game of two halves’ perfectly. Harrow in control for the opening forty-five, whilst the host had the second. All being decided on shots from the spot. A tie against Brentford awaits the West London club.
