Only a few days after a disappointing draw against Ashford Town Harrow Borough were in away action again. Making the trip to Potters Bar Town the reds looked to improve on lazy performances, with important players such as Brandon Matthews being available for selection once more. Our opposition for the evening featured two former Borough boys; Haff Al Droubi and Chin Cole.
The first half included a strong start from our host. Breaking down the space between our midfield and defensive line seemed very easy, leaving them free space to take shots at our goal. Quick passes between the Potters Bar team gave them the ability to use all areas of the pitch. A brilliant performance from the Scholars. As time went on the travelling side began to create strings of passes, giving us the opportunity to advance up the pitch. Harrow legend Michael Bryan looked the most lively out of the team in yellow this game. During the late stages of the first half our host found the back of the net, A fantastic run from the Potters Bar player puts the host ahead. Esan gets the opener! Following the goal heads very visibly dropped and tempers rose from certain members of Harrow team. Not a trait we want to see.
Just like the second period of our game against Ashford town there seemed to be nothing of significance to report. The ball seemed to mostly be passed backwards giving both goalkeepers chances to distribute it back into the channels. Subs came on during this time however none were able to provide a spark to get us into the game. New additions to the squad didn’t seem up to standard, creating concern for supporters of the South Harrow club.
In conclusion this fixture proved to be a difficult watch for Harrow fans. Another pre-season game leaving supporters concerned for the upcoming league season, and cup competitions. Special mention goes to Marc Charles Smith who seemed to try for the entire time he was on the pitch. Exactly the attitude needed at this level! Thank you to everyone at Potters Bar Town for their hospitality this evening, and I wish you all the best for the future.
