Flip flop Farnborough!

Starting off a Farnborough double header was their visit to Earlsmead. The league leaders made the trip to West London with forty points already on the board, having only lost three times all season. In their previous outing tonight’s guest were knocked out of the Fa Trophy. In front of an impressive crowd at Kingstonian. Conceding four goals that afternoon. When the sides last met Harrow walked out comfortable winners, star player James Ewington bagging two goals in the first half.

Kicking off the match was Harrow Borough. Attacking towards the clubhouse end the host had a poor start, as their opponents applied early pressure. Having a chance down the flank exciting the travelling support. Comfortably caught by Josh. As the match went on the reds picked up the pace. James Ewington missing a chance to break the deadlock, as he did on the club’s previous affair. Coming close again the home team went wide of the bar to keep it level in London. Thirty-eight minutes in we finally had the first goal of the evening, Rick Holmes finding the net. Questionably a blatant penalty was not awarded to harrow in the build-up of the goal. The most obvious decision you’ll ever see, once more showing the poor quality of officials in the league. Not fit for purpose.

At the break Harrow were unlucky to be behind. Thanks to the efforts of the Southern league, the guest were ahead. Not much difference in quality between the two sides. Increasing the lead in the fifty fifth minute Farnborough got a second. Ricky Holmes doubling his tally for tonight, as he fired his shot past Josh. Low effort from a difficult angle hits the back of the net with a thump. Two nil down with thirty-five minutes to go. Harrow managed to pull one back amongst the diving of their opposition. Sam Adenola made a darting run up the field, charging forward from the defensive third. Whacking the ball in the goal. Fantastic strike from the young fullback. However, the goal in the seventy seventh minute did not inspire a comeback. In what became a dull encounter after that. Farnborough spent the rest of the fixture leaping to the ground, even before being touched. Flip flopping themselves to the top of the league.

In conclusion the officials from the Southern League handed the Hampshire side the win. Lack of quality was produced from our visitors, who made the most out of the decisions always going their way. None more so than the penalty appeal. Hopefully Merthyr get a result against them.
