Only a week after beating 20-time Premier League champions Manchester United at Loftus Road the R’s were back in action. Making the trip to White City this afternoon was Leicester City, who won the FA Cup last season. During the build-up to this game the West London side faced another united team with a trip to Cambridge on Tuesday night. That same evening the foxes went away to Wycombe Wanderers and lost 1-0 at Adams Park, thanks to a goal from Daryl Hogan. Before this game supporters were able to take photos with the FA Cup trophy which was located in the fan zone.
In the first half Charlie Austin puts the Rs ahead. Fantastic passing between Moses, Chair and Chris created in the goal in the 44th minute before the forward found the top corner. A pretty dull opening period in W12 until the deadlock was broken in the final minute. Confident play from the home side gave QPR supporters hope for the upcoming season, leaving some wondering if this could be the start of a promotion winning campaign.
QPR doubled their lead against higher league opponents not long after the break, a corner which came back out was eventually found by Barbet in the 55th who then put it away. Our Visitors grabbed a goal back following that. This goal was an Easy shot by Dewsbury-Hall
from inside the box that went past the host keeper in the 75th minute. The foxes doubled their tally soon after with a perfectly weighted ball finding the net in the 77th minute thanks to new signing Daka. Game seemed to be going in Leicester’s favour now… Rob Dickie was next to score when he put the Rs back in front at Loftus Road in the 82nd minute. A whipped corner fell into the box and was hit against the post before the former Oxford defender put the rebound in. QPR were winning with 8 mins to go! Leicester levelled the game in the dying minutes of the game thanks to a penalty awarded by the referee and converted by Iheanacho.
In conclusion an eventful draw came to an end after an added three minutes. A very entertaining game for both sides. QPR once more put in a delightful performance for their fans. Wishing Leicester, a wonderful season, and an enjoyable year for their incredible support who didn’t stop singing.
