England Fans take on Germany!

With England’s crucial Euro 2020 round of 16 game against long standing rivals Germany less than 24 hours away supporters decided to have a game of their own to prepare for the event. Being played at Middlesex FA’s Rectory Park in Northolt fans were able to see two very competitive teams going head-to-head. Managed by current Hanwell Town boss the home team went into the game under a well experienced leader. The game began with an instant goal from tonight’s visitors who netted very quickly at the Middlesex facilities however this was soon met with a reply from the England supporters’ team. After a period of midfield battles the host for this evening’s game took the lead for the first time as a result of a shot which was dragged across the goal before hitting the net. This lead was shortly increased as the three lions’ supporters scored their third goal for the night, setting a tone for the rest of the evening.

Half time followed here at rectory park with the score 3-1 to the English team. As the teams reappeared for the second period the German fans looked the better side, getting their second goal of the evening. The reduced gap did not last long as the England team grabbed their fourth of the evening only seconds after. Off the back of the joy of that finish the three lions fans increased their lead once more making the score 5-2 to the home team. With the score getting out of hand the German team tried to keep possession of the ball, but failed to do this with England bagging their sixth goal of the night only 5 minutes later. A consolation goal from the Germans followed this with our opposition well aware of how this game would be ending. A fantastic strike from an England player left spectators this evening amazed as the ball smashed into the net making the gap larger between the two teams once more. However, this did not start a pattern of wonderful finishes tonight as the eight goal for the England fans team was a simple tap in from the right-hand side of the box. Each side managed to score one more at the Rectory ground leaving the final score as a 9-4 English win in what proved to be a goal fest at the Middlesex ground.

Having spoke to the Hanwell Town and England Fans manager after the game it was clear that all involved in the fixture were delighted. When asked his thoughts on the events of the night Chris Moore said ‘I’m delighted with the win! The boys reacted well to going a goal down early in to go on and win the game comfortably and then to win the penalty shoot out afterwards was fantastic. The boys were buzzing in the dressing room afterwards and all looking forward to the game the following evening’. I would like to take this chance to say a thank you to Chris Moore for taking time to comment on the game, and wish him well for the upcoming season.
