Demi double!

Due to adverse weather conditions QPR Women saw their home fixture against London Seaward relocated. Taking place at Rectory Park, the R’s looked to get back to winning ways. After seeing their unbeaten run end at the hands of Wimbledon. Going down by two goals to nil.

Both teams started well despite the wind. QPR had the opening chance of the game, when they sent a corner in. Bradley heading away for the visitors on four minutes. Soon after London Seaward sent in a corner of their own. Following great team work from Ellie and Giorgia, deep in the R’s half. Ellie then went on to win a free kick for the guest. But it was the host who had the next opportunity. Shooting from outside the box, Kumaning smacked an effort onto the bar. Forcing the travelling side to scramble the ball away from the rebound. Pressing high, QPR won a free kick. Brogan Moore just unable to make it count. Before London Seaward had their next go at goal, Bradley’s header narrowly going wide of the post. Confident defending from the guest kept their opponents out till half time.

When play resumed for the second period Seaward had the first chance. An inviting pass from Alex made its way into the box, but no one was able to apply a finishing touch. Katie McClean came to the rescue for the visitor’s next attack. Saving a shot on fifty minutes. Having another chance, Hayley fired over the bar. Leaving the scores level. Until the fifty fifth minute, when Melanie Hall broke through on the wing. Putting in a cross for Demi Edwards to smash home. Giving the R’s a lead. Demi doubled the home sides lead only three minutes later. Tacking advantage of a chance created by Brogan Moore. Who’s pin point pass landed to the forward, to slot away. Silencing Seaward for the remainder of the game. As the fixture slowly fizzled out, the ball hardly getting past the middle of the pitch.

In conclusion QPR Women had a fantastic performance. From start to finish the R’s side took control of the game, and made chances count. Demi Edwards once again probing why she is the best forward in the division. What a player, what a person.
