Buzzing Brentford Women!

Brentford Women hosted Watford Women development at the GTECH Community stadium on Sunday afternoon. The teams going head-to-head in a league fixture. In front of what was expected to be an eight thousand crowd, coming to see the first women’s club fixture at the stadium. After recent successful hosting of the European championships.


Starting this afternoon’s affair Brentford had the opening opportunity. Getting the game going down the wing, the host worked their way forward. Before they were quickly fouled. As they reached the edge of the box. Shortly followed by a strong block. Bringing their second chance to a stop. Making an important save, the Watford keeper averted danger. Dealing with the danger caused by a dreadful back pass by the centre back. Creating once more. The home side saw Chloe Loggie slap a shot onto the post, disappointing her vocal friends and family. Who were hurling nonsense throughout the tie. Afiya monk making an impressive impact on the opening exchanges. However, it was the guest who got the first goal, getting a fortunate tap in. Counter attacking advances opening up areas for stumbling shot. Flinging a free kick, the visitors could have made it two. Caught by the Brentford keeper. Not long later, a flurry of shots forced the host backline into barrage of pressure. Skied attempts aiding the afternoons work. Breaking away at speed. The bees were inches away from grabbing a goal. Lobbing the stranded shot stopper, leaving her watching as the ball flew over. Showing great determination. Afiya Monk attacked up the field. Finding a teammate for a fluffed shot straight into the keepers’ hands. In the dying minutes of the half, the host had a cross, Watford conceding a corner. Cleared after a scramble in the box.


Getting the second half underway was an early goal for the home side. Sophie troth heading a corner, coming off a defender, before going in. reacting well to a well worked move by Watford on the wing. Making a strong save the host were fortunate not to be behind again. Within a minute, the visitors managed to make an effective counter attack. Earning a corner for their efforts. Seeing a second shot slam onto the post Brentford could not believe their luck. Perfect pass to put the player in a position. Mixing up on the edge of the box, the ball bobbled out for Brentford, ending a great chance. Doubling their tally for the day. The host tapped ahead. Superb slotted pass by Demi Edwards engaging defenders away from the attacker. Slipping her shot into the net, sending the crowd wild. Shortly followed by a third goal. Brentford’s top scorer converted from close range, connecting with a cross, coming from the touchline. Pulling one back before full time Watford won a penalty. Brilliantly batted high into the roof of the net by the taker. But the game did not end there, a second goal in injury time occurred, as the home side scored forth. Amazing advances by Sophie Troth created space. Sending her teammate through in space. Smashing a spectacular goal into the net. Ending a memorable afternoon for the Bees.
