Harrow Borough started the league campaign this Saturday afternoon. Making the long journey to deep Devon, taking on Tiverton Town. At their ladymead stadium. In front of a crowd of three hundred and two people.
The opening opportunity fell to the host. Nail Thompson connecting with Joe O’ Loughlin, forcing the Harrow shot stopper into an early save. Having seen a minute of action go by. Preventing a fast paced counter attack. Dylan Jones cut out a Ewington chance, three minutes later. Shortly followed by another Jacob Knightsbridge catch. Coming close to breaking the deadlock. Niall Thompson could have taken the home team ahead. Fortunately blocked by the borough back line. Staying high up the field. Joe O Loughlin was through on twelve minutes. Once more Jacob untested, in the Harrow net. Moments later followed by an offside call. Shooting from outside the area, the travelling team had the proceeding play. Working the keeper into a marvellous movement to prevent a goal. Performing perfectly. Jacob Knightsbridge made a delightful dive. Keeping out Kane Simpson, as we hit twenty-seven minutes. Looking the better team, Tiverton was inches away from scoring. A cross into the area landing to Josh Jones. Who could not find the net. Making fantastic saves of their own, the host ended the first half.
A period of back and forth got the second half underway. Before Dylan Jones started to cause more and more problems, which the Harrow defenders dealt with. Pushing for a breakthrough. Purrington had three hosts, all not getting the opening goal. As we went into the final thirty minutes of the fixture. James Taylor cleared the ball off the line on seventy minutes, after a pinball period caused the guest trouble. However, this would prove to be the turning point in the game. As the next ten minutes were dominated by the reds. Heading over, and forcing superb saves. For the second time. Harrow borough were forced to clear off the line. With five minutes added time, it seemed a point had slipped, luck playing a part.
