A difficult task!

After the convincing win over Cardiff City Ladies QPR Women faced higher opposition once more. This afternoon’s game saw the Rs take on London Bees, who are two leagues above ourselves. Being played on the Astro turf pitch opposites Barnet’s Hive Stadium supporters were forced to watch through a fence.

When the game commenced it was clear to see that QPR were up against a difficult team. Quick short passes began from the very first kick off the ball, allowing players to be expansive in their play. Ellie Searle and Merle doing this for the visitors. After a very tough period the Rs seemed to be creating chances through bringing the ball out the back, with Vicky Grieves leading by example. A positive way to start. Sue Kumaning proved to be vital for us this game as a result of her constantly breaking down the host play in midfield. A difficult situation arose when one of London Bees was struck in the face by a QPR players foot after what looked to be an unlucky tackle. The only goal of the half came by a simple run in to the box which was easily put past QPR keeper. London Bees take the lead!

In the second half both teams carried on as they finished the first. QPR remained competitive against challenging opponents. With the fixture going on the visitors seemed to be more comfortable on the ball, spreading it around through the use of our full backs. Mollie Dench being an excellent example. Not much else happened here in Barnet after that. New Rs signing Kate McLean was fantastic today, such a great signing by Steve Quashie and his team. Lucy will have a challenge this season for the No.1 shirt.

In conclusion QPR Women can be proud of themselves this evening. Each and every one of the team put in a fantastic performance, against a team who are a very strong side. Well done to them all! Wishing London Bees all the best for the upcoming season, and thank you for having us.
