Tuesday night saw Tithe Farm host the Women’s national league division one south east fixture between Actonians and Hounslow Women. An unusual venue for the home side, who normally play their matches out of Middlesex fa. However, a familiar spot for the visitors, as the ground used to be their former home. Before making the move to Hanworth Villa.
Starting this evening’s affair. Actonians set up against eight player opposition. Having the first chance, straight from kick off. Coming off the keeper’s foot for a corner. Which was cleared as expected. Shortly followed by a second shot, as an over-the-top ball was attempted. Invading the visitors box before being caught by the keeper. Trying again. Actonians attacked down the touchline. Letting a cross come into the centre forward, who couldn’t connect with the ball, wasting the chance. Tapped around the post by a teammate in close proximity. Still in the final third, a flurry of shots was taken. Finding the net for the first time this fixture. Proceeded by a foul throw by Hounslow. Having to be retaken on referees’ orders. Turning into a free kick, terrible challenge in the forthcoming seconds. Positioned inches away from the corner flag. Slicing a shot, the host looked for a second. Remaining up the pitch, they picked out their next opportunity. Only just going wide of the post. Shortly followed by the Hounslow centre half storming across the box to boot the ball away. Crossing into the area, the home side still couldn’t get another goal. Causing shock amongst supporters. Doubling their tally after a period of somewhat surprising play by their opposite numbers. The host scored from six yards. Their second of the game. Low driven delivery, destined to go in, incredibly play by the wide player. Moments before an impressive move helped her movement past her marker. Carrying on with their crossing tactic. Actonians saw the ball caught by the keeper. Next time opting to diagonally dart it, into the danger zone. But proving to be hit too hard. Soaring down the right-hand side. Actonians winger went chasing, not daunted by the speed. Risking a serious injury Hounslow had a high foot go up by their centre back. Just flying past the home players face. Quickly continued when Actonians next two attempts came off the crossbar and post respectively. Slapping in a third, on the next effort. Taking their tally even further the home side scored a fourth. Having seen space in the area, for a simple finish. A few minutes break broke up play. But a fifth was in before halftime. As well as a sixth and a seventh, against a keeper now not even trying. Stepping aside to let them cross the line.
Getting the second half underway. It was understandable that Actonians would have the opening opportunity. Now playing against even more reduced opponents, with only six on the pitch. The travelling team’s manager away picking up a seventh player to bring to the match. Two shots spilled by the visitors shot stopper, giving away an eighth goal of the game. Who couldn’t deal with the cross which was sent goal bound. After the winger wondered into the final third without any pressure. Not long later a ninth and tenth went in. trickling past a frozen set of players in red. Scoring the eleventh, a superb strike was hit from outside the area. Slotting into the bottom corner. The keeper actually diving this time. However, the game did not end there. Twelve goals were scored when the ball bottled across the box and into the net. Despite the keeper swinging her foot in hopes of hitting it away. Thirteenth and fourteenth finishes continued a disappointing day for the guest. Before the final goal of the game went in to make it fifteen.
