Fuelled for football...

Ever since the main stream media reported a fuel shortage in the United Kingdom there has been panic amongst the public. Thousands of people across the island have been rushing to stations to fill up their tanks, worrying there will be none left in the coming days. Even though they may not have any need for it. The influence of this has had a large impact on many different sectors. Upsettingly including the health care and key workers, who may not be able to provide the fantastic service they normally do. Something that keeps us all going on a day-to-day basis.

One example of an affected industry is the footballing world, leaving clubs unable to complete fixtures. Without the access to fuel teams may not be able to travel to their away games. As a result of the crisis leagues up and down the pyramid have allowed teams to withdraw from games providing, they can hand over sufficient evidence as to why they can not attend. However, certain sides are using this to their advantage to avoid opponents on a good run of form. More than 50 non-league matches have been postponed so far. In the ninth and tenth tier of English football all games have been suspended, decision coming from the Southern Combination Football league. A fixture pile up is likely to occur later on in the season. Will players be burnt out?

In conclusion I believe this issue has been created by the media, similar to that of the toilet paper shortage. Once more situations such as this show the amounts of greed by individuals working for large broadcasting corporations. Risking lives for online clicks. I’d like to take this chance to remind all emergency service workers that their efforts are appreciated, and hope they are not affected by others embarrassing behaviour for too long.
