Ashlee Hincks interview!

With the FA Women’s National League season coming to a close. I spoke to Ashlee Hinks, about her journey leading up to the campaign. Including a spell which saw the prolific forward having a spell out in Iceland. Now going to on to score thirty-nine goals after thirty-two games.

Q) Ahead of the 2021/22 season you signed for AFC Wimbledon. How did this move come about? And what was one thing that attracted you to the club?

I spoke with a few teams however Wimbledon instantly stood out to me, their ambition and investment into the women’s team was something that really appealed to me.

Q) During your career you’ve been part of two fa cup finals. How special were these occasions?

Playing in front of sold-out stadiums in an FA cup final is something you always dream about as a little kid so it was amazing to be a part of two, albeit losing both.

Q) Also, you’ve represented England at all youth levels. How did this help you develop as a player?

Training and playing with the best players in England is always going to improve you as a player as your being pushed to your limits, the coaching staff were also unreal, I’ve been lucky to have been coached by some of the best coaches in England and it’s really helped shaped my character and style of play.

Q) In a career which has seen you have many experiences, and gain vast amounts of knowledge. You embarked on a spell at FH Hafnarfjordur. What impact did playing abroad have on you? And why advice would you give younger players about experience foreign leagues?

My advice would be to just GO, it was without a doubt the best experience I have ever had, to live and work in a completely different culture and country pushes you out your comfort zone. I would do it all over again.

Q) Finally, England will be hosting the Euros this summer. What impact do you believe this will have on the game? And how important are supporters for you?

Women’s football has already progressed far more than I ever thought it would, the final sold out within 5 minutes Speaks volumes. We are finally seeing huge audiences both in stadiums and TV so to have this coverage is only going to promote our game even more.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Ashlee Hinks for taking time to answer my questions. Wishing all the best for the remainder of the season, and the upcoming cup final. As well as the future.
